§ 2-283. Election board.

  • (a)

    All village elections that are not held in conjunction with a county-wide election shall be canvassed by the village clerk with the assistance of the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections. The village clerk may designate in writing up to three available village employees to assist the village clerk in this process. Canvassing of village election returns shall be conducted under the applicable provisions of the Florida Statutes. In the event that a village election is held in conjunction with a county-wide election, the county canvassing board shall canvass the election returns, which shall be reported to the village council by the village clerk.

    (b)

    Pursuant to F.S. § 102.012, the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections is authorized to appoint an election board composed of poll workers who serve as clerks or inspectors of each applicable voting precinct for the village election.

    (c)

    The village clerk shall present a certification of election results to the village council at the first meeting of the village council following the village election.
